I am a jewelry designer-metalsmith. I work with gold, sterling, fine silver, copper, brass, as well as glass enamels which allows me the freedom to use color in my work. I cut and polish many of the semi-precious stones I use, designing settings that complement and enhance their natural beauty. Etching metal satisfies my love of sketching subjects from nature. Every piece is one-of-a-kind, hand fabricated by me, from raw materials.
I was born in Los Angeles, California and currently live in Ojai, California. I knew I was an artist from very early on, though it took a long time to discover the form my artistic inclinations would take. I studied jewelry making in high school, the only girl in class, I had difficulty learning to saw metal, and though I loved designing I enjoyed the boys more. In college I studied art and music, exploring every aspect of them but couldn’t decide on a specific form. So, I took a break and had a child, the greatest creation of all! My son now resides in Spain where he is a Chiropractor and father of two amazing children.
While practicing motherhood, I earned my living for 20 years designing and making custom clothing for people. I then went on to practicing and teaching Iyengar yoga for 10 years, learning about the “fabric” of the human form.
At a time when many friends were retiring, I began in earnest to study metal smithing and lapidary at the Wake Center in Santa Barbara, California and became totally immersed. I finally found my medium. There is no end in sight on this amazing journey.
My passion is to create beautiful objects of perennial beauty, well-made and worthy to be handed down to future generations, to make metal and stone sing in harmony. I hope to encourage others to see the inherent beauty of Life and appreciate it as the gift we have all been given to know our selves.
